A two seater sofa bed is the small-space solution: a compact sofa by day that opens to a small double when a friend or relative stays, and leaves room for a desk or a wardrobe in the same room.

Two seater sofa beds are built for the rooms a full-size sofa bed cannot reach: the study, the box room, the teenager's bedroom, the one-bedroom flat. At around 150 to 170cm wide closed, they seat two comfortably, and most open to a small double bed of about 120cm, wide enough for a guest to sleep well for a long weekend.

We stock two seater sofa beds in fabric and leather. VIDA Living's Koda is a popular fabric two seater from stock, our Exclusive range adds more in-stock styles in several colours, and a number of made-to-order British collections include a two seater sofa bed so it can match a suite elsewhere in the house. Every one uses a proper mattress, sprung or high-density foam, on a pull-out or fold-out mechanism that opens in one movement, rather than seat cushions laid on a frame.

Because a two seater is often used in a room with other furniture, the open depth matters as much as the closed width: a pull-out two seater needs around 200cm of clear floor when extended, and both measurements are on the product page. If the bed will be used regularly rather than for the odd weekend, choose a sprung-mattress pull-out over a click-clack design; we state the mattress type on each product. A two seater sofa bed in a neutral fabric also makes a sensible first sofa for a flat, becoming the spare bed later when a larger sofa arrives.

Fabric is the usual choice, in a tight weave that copes with the mechanism; leather suits a room that is more office than lounge. Order free swatches from any product page, or try the mechanisms on the floor at our Rotherham showroom. Many two seater sofa beds are delivered in days from stock; UK mainland delivery is free with our own two-person team; and Klarna is available at checkout.
