Post-Winter Cleaning:
After being stored or kept under covers during the winter months, your rattan dining chairs may accumulate dust and dirt. To freshen them up for the season, simply rinse the chairs with a hose pipe and use a soft sponge to wipe away debris. This quick and easy cleaning method will restore your chairs to their best condition.
Does Rattan Contract and Expand?
Yes, all Homeflair rattan furniture naturally contracts and expands with changing temperatures. In warm weather, the rattan will expand, and it will contract again as temperatures drop. This is a normal characteristic of rattan and helps prevent the weave from becoming brittle or snapping during colder months.
Cushion Care:
How Do I Clean My Outdoor Cushions?
Our seat cushions are designed for easy maintenance. For cleaning, we recommend a gentle hand wash using warm, soapy water and a clean cloth. Please note that our cushions are not machine washable and should not be tumble dried.

However, as wood is a natural material, it may develop small cracks and splits over time due to expansion and contraction. These natural changes do not affect the furniture’s strength or durability.
Regular Cleaning:
Keep your wooden furniture clean by regularly wiping it down with a damp cloth. For optimal care, we recommend using the Homeflair Wood Furniture Cleaning & Protector Kit, specially formulated to clean and preserve wooden garden furniture.
Seasonal Maintenance:
Apply a wood protector twice a year to prolong the life of your furniture. We suggest applying the treatment once in autumn, to prepare for winter, and again in spring, to protect it during warmer months. This care routine helps shield the wood from moisture, UV rays, and temperature changes.
Avoid Using Covers:
We advise against using protective covers on our wooden furniture. Instead, regular maintenance and proper seasonal care as outlined above are sufficient to keep your furniture looking great year-round.
Natural Colour Changes:
Over time, untreated or lightly treated wood may experience natural colour variations due to sun exposure and other environmental influences. While these changes add character and a weathered charm, they can be reduced with regular use of wood protector.
