Rattan Dining Chairs

Post-Winter Cleaning:
After months in storage or under covers, your rattan chairs may accumulate dust and dirt. To clean, simply rinse with a hose pipe and use a soft sponge with warm soapy water to wipe down the surfaces. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive tools.

Weather Behaviour – Expansion & Contraction:
Our rattan furniture is designed to adapt to changing temperatures. In warm weather, the rattan weave will expand, then contract as it cools. This natural movement prevents the material from becoming brittle or snapping during colder months. It is a completely normal and expected characteristic of high-quality rattan furniture.

Cushion Care:
To clean outdoor cushions, use warm soapy water and a clean cloth. All cushions should be hand washed only – they are not machine washable and should not be tumble dried. For longevity, we recommend storing cushions indoors or in a dry place when not in use.

Wooden Furniture

Understanding the Nature of Wood:
Wood is a natural material and may show cracks or splits over time due to natural expansion and contraction. These characteristics do not affect the structural integrity of the furniture and add to its charm and authenticity. Our Bali, Martinique, and Porto collections feature a light PU coating for added protection.

Routine Cleaning:
Wipe wooden surfaces regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. For best results, use the Maze Wood Garden Furniture Cleaning & Protector Kit, specially developed to care for and preserve wooden finishes.

Seasonal Maintenance:
Apply Maze’s protective treatment twice a year:

• In autumn, to prepare the furniture for winter weather

• In spring, to refresh and protect it ahead of the warmer months

This routine helps extend the life of your wooden furniture and maintain its appearance.

Covering Advice:
We do not recommend using covers for wooden furniture. Proper ventilation is crucial to prevent moisture build-up, which can lead to mould or mildew. Regular maintenance and cleaning are the most effective way to preserve your furniture’s condition.

Natural Colour Changes:
Over time, exposure to sunlight and environmental elements may cause untreated wood to develop a silvery-grey patina. This ageing process is natural and adds unique character to each piece. To minimise colour changes, apply protective treatments regularly and store furniture in shaded areas when possible.
